One Year in Tāmaki
It’s been a privilege to serve as your local Member of Parliament for one year!
Over the past year, I’ve advocated for locals and succeeded in helping a young mother get her son a place at SomervilleSchool, helped a man with disabilities move into a more accessible Kainga Ora home, supported a local through emergency housing and into a Tāmaki Regeneration home of his own, and assisted with numerous visa application issues, including for family members from Ukraine. We’ve advocated for businesses in Glen Innes who are enduring ongoing road reconfigurations, and supported businesses and families impacted by crime by holding two safety meetings so locals can have their say and be connected.
My electorate office in the Meadowbank Mall is open to all. If you have an issue, you’re welcome to reach out, and my team and I may be able to help you resolve it.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to bump into so many locals in the community while walking Round the Bays, paying our respects at ANZAC services, or collecting for the Heart Foundation. I’ve worked to create a sense of community through hosting community meetings with guest speakers from all walks of life. Together, we’ve welcomed the British High Commissioner, the CEO of City Mission, and economist Brad Olsen to speak and listen to your questions. I’m committed to continuing to provide a space for us all to connect, learn, and be heard.
We know that times are hard for many New Zealanders. I share people’s desire to have New Zealand return to being a productive and prosperous nation. The interconnection between the economy, crime, health, mental health and education means that we all need to continue to think holistically and work as one to solve the real issues so that we help shape a future for New Zealand that we can be proud of. This year, I’ve represented our Government in South Korea, passed legislation to support businesses and workers, and will continue to advocate for your money to be spent wisely. Being a Minister in Government does take me to Wellington, but I continue to return to Tāmaki every week.
I’m here to represent your voice in Parliament, and I continue to be grateful to you and our wonderful neighbours for that honour. See you in the community!
