We're Halfway Through
We’re halfway through 2025 and I’m looking forward to every day from here getting longer! Longer days means more time out in our community, walking around the waterfront, bumping into locals enjoying our parks, and less of whatever this weather has been…wherever you’re living, I hope you’ve been safe and dry over this weekend. On Friday, I caught up with Auckland City Missioner Helen Robinson in my electorate office to discuss women’s homelessness. If you know a homeless person and would like to support them, you can contact the Mission at 09 303 9200 or find more information at this link. Helen was our first Community Speaker in our series in the electorate where locals generously gave food and presents to Kiwis going without over Christmas. |

We held another successful Community Meeting this month about Crime & Safety. A huge thank you to the Minister for Police, Minister for Children, Deputy Mayor of Auckland, Members of the Ōrākei Local Board and Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board, Auckland Transport, local Police, and Auckland Council for being part of my event to answer local questions and concerns. I love being your MP and providing these opportunities. My Youth MP, Mikaela, asked a very good question about youth safety (and I wish her luck as she takes my seat in Parliament this week) and we learnt there is a number to text if you witness an incident of anti-social behaviour, tagging, crime or fare evasion while using Auckland Transport services. You can free text 4030 to anonymously report it, or phone 0800 555 111. Let’s keep these conversations going. |

I spent a lot of time this month out and about around Tāmaki. I visited Ruapōtaka Marae to hear of the work they’re doing to help create a connected community, spoke at the Mission Bay-Kohimarama Residents Association AGM and with Probus in Newmarket, which has many locals in their membership. I held a coffee catch up for businesses in St Johns and talked to staff and business owners in the area – it’s always good to be hearing what’s happening on the ground. |

One new piece of information from our community is that the Glendowie Tennis Club now has Padel Courts. I went along to the open day to give it a go. Let’s just say I’ll stick to my day job, but it’s good to give things a go! |

One update on our electorate office halfway through the year. We’ve helped 200 people with very specific cases in the office and responded to close to 4000 queries for information and wider assistance. If you need help you can always contact my office. Our next upcoming event is a coffee catch up at Akarana Eatery on 18 July 10-11am, no appointment needed. If you have neighbourhood issues or would like to chat to your MP about something impacting you personally, come along, have a coffee, and let me know. |
